Easy 2 Ingredient DIY Zero Waste Toner

Eco-friendly skin care is tough. Nearly everything is packaged in plastic, and it’s often made with toxic ingredients. Additionally, many “green” beauty brands participate in green washing. And if that’s not enough, many natural skincare remedies, like lemon and baking soda, can actually harm your skin. It shouldn’t be so hard to find simple skincare, right? I’ve tested this DIY zero waste toner for months and have found my skin’s ideal combination of ingredients. The best part? This toner only has 2 ingredients.

Apple cider vinegar

You will also need a container to store your solution in. I used an old plastic spray bottle, but you can use any container suitable for storing and applying toner.

Step 1

Decide how much you want to dilute the apple cider vinegar. Depending on the season, I tend to use 1/3 or 1/4 of the vinegar. If you have sensitive skin, try using 1/4 or 1/5 of the vinegar.

Pour in the chosen amount of apple cider vinegar into the container.

Step 2

Fill the rest of the container with water. I prefer to use purified water because our tap water isn’t too clean.

Step 3

Enjoy your new creation! I use this zero waste toner 5-6 times a week in the morning morning. To apply, I spray the toner onto a reusable cotton pad and wipe my face. The smell really wakes you up in the morning.

Don’t worry, the smell fades. Just don’t forget to moisturize.

If you see signs of irritation, then use less vinegar, use it less often, or just stick to what works best for you!
